Terms and Conditions

Patriarchs of Progression Society (POPS)

Effective Date: September 23,  2020


1. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

By accessing, enrolling in, volunteering with, donating to, or participating in any program, service, website, event, or activity offered by Patriarchs of Progression Society (POPS), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions (“Terms”), all applicable policies, and any additional agreements that may apply.If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not participate in or use POPS services.


2. ORGANIZATIONAL PURPOSE

POPS is a by-and-for, trauma-informed, community-rooted nonprofit organization dedicated to healing, resilience, leadership development, and generational wellth for underserved communities. All programs, communications, and services are grounded in:

  • Trauma-informed care  
  • Cultural responsiveness  
  • Community empowerment  
  • Safety and dignity  


Participation in POPS programs is voluntary.


3. ELIGIBILITY

You may participate in programs or activities if:

  • You meet the specific eligibility requirements for the program  
  • You follow all organizational policies and safety expectations  
  • You provide accurate, truthful information  
  • You are not prohibited from participation by law or court order  


POPS reserves the right to decline or remove participants when safety, compliance, or program integrity requires it.


4. TRAUMA-INFORMED PARTICIPATION EXPECTATIONS

Participants agree to:

  • Maintain respectful communication
  • Honor confidentiality
  • Create a safe environment for all identities and lived experiences
  • Engage in programs in good faith
  • Avoid harassment, violence, or disruptive behavior


Violations may result in temporary or permanent removal from programming.


5. CONFIDENTIALITY & PRIVACY

POPS respects participant privacy.However:

  • We do not guarantee absolute confidentiality when safety concerns arise
  • Information may be shared with staff on a need-to-know basis
  • Legally mandated reporting laws (child abuse, threats of harm, etc.) still apply


For online services, participants must ensure they are in a private setting if needed.

6. CONSENT TO COMMUNICATIONS

By enrolling or participating, you consent to receive organizational communications via:

  • Email
  • Text
  • Phone
  • App/portal notifications
  • Written mail


You may opt out of non-essential communications at any time.


7. PROGRAM SERVICES & LIMITATIONS

POPS provides support services including:

  • Trauma-informed healing
  • Nature-based therapy
  • Cultural and community healing practices
  • Youth programs
  • Leadership development
  • Workshops and events


We do not provide:

  • Legal representation
  • Medical services
  • Emergency crisis services
  • Guaranteed housing
  • Mental health diagnoses
  • Financial guarantees


Programs may be modified, paused, or discontinued at any time.


8. SAFETY & MANDATED REPORTING

POPS prioritizes physical and emotional safety.Participants agree not to bring:

  • Weapons
  • Illegal substances
  • Threatening behavior


POPS follows mandated-reporting laws and may notify authorities when legally required.


9. RELEASE OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent allowed by law, participants agree that POPS, its board, staff, volunteers, contractors, and partners are not liable for:

  • Personal injury
  • Emotional distress
  • Property loss
  • Harm caused by other participants
  • Actions outside formal programming


Participants engage voluntarily and assume responsibility for their own well-being.A full waiver can be created if required.


10. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

All POPS curriculum, branding, programming, logos, language, written materials, and multimedia content remain the exclusive property of POPS unless otherwise stated.Participants may not copy, distribute, reproduce, or commercialize materials without written permission.


11. DONATIONS & FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS

Donations made to POPS:

  • Are voluntary
  • Are tax-deductible when permitted
  • Are final and non-refundable
  • May be used at the organization’s discretion in alignment with mission


Fiscal sponsorship, grant requirements, or restricted donations may include additional terms.


12. VOLUNTEERS & BOARD MEMBERS

Volunteers and board members agree to:

  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Avoid conflicts of interest
  • Uphold organizational values
  • Follow all safety, conduct, and ethics standards


Violations may result in removal. A separate Board Policy & Procedure can be added.


13. TERMINATION OF PARTICIPATION

POPS may suspend or terminate participation for reasons including:

  • Safety concerns
  • Policy violations
  • Dishonesty or misuse of services
  • Threatening behavior
  • Illegal activity
  • Harassment of staff or participants


Participants may withdraw at any time.


14. DISPUTE RESOLUTION

If a concern arises, POPS encourages:

  1. Direct communication with staff
  2. Internal conflict resolution processes
  3. Escalation to leadership, if necessary


POPS is not required to continue services during disputes.


15. MODIFICATION OF TERMS

POPS may update these Terms at any time.Updates will be posted publicly, and continued participation constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.


16. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington unless otherwise required by federal grant regulations.
